Polishing is done with a spinning soft rubber cup. Prophylaxis paste is a toothpaste-like substance that is scooped into the cup and spun around on the teeth. Prophy jet polishing removes stains, plaque, and soft debris from your teeth by using a pressurized spray of air and water with sodium hydrogen carbonate powder. It may have a slightly salty flavor.
