Why Do We Have Wisdom Teeth
It's believed that our wisdom teeth are relics of our distant evolutionary past. Our forebears relied on a diet consisting of rough, unrefined foods and larger jaws. The additional teeth gave the required chewing force. However, as humans evolved, our diets altered and our jaws shrunk. As a result, wisdom teeth frequently can't grow properly in the mouth due to a lack of room, which can cause a number of dental issues.
